I’ve always stated that I created this platform to support other people’s platforms, and it’s finally happened. Today you will hear from a beautiful Indigenous woman and her very first podcast episode.  Eventually you will be able to join her directly on her own podcast but for now, we are using the Life of a Dog on the Rez as a bed for the seed that she has placed in the earth.  Just like the corn that our ancestors planted and our people continue to plant, we will nourish it, water it, protect it, put earth around the base to keep it from tipping and eventually it will stand on its own, producing fruits that will feed the body, mind and soul. So sit back, relax and enjoy her very first episode. Below is some of the organizations, business, and social media platforms she mentions. You can find her full episode of her interview on the Life of a Dog on the Rez, Episode 41 - "I Just Do It, What's the worst that could happen?" on all podcast platforms.

I've always stated that I created this platform to support other people's platforms, and it's finally happened today, you'll hear from a beautiful indigenous body and her very first podcast episode. Eventually, you'll be able to join her directly on her own podcast. But for now, we are using the life of a dog in Aez as a bed for the seed that she has placed in the earth. just like the corn that our ancestors planted and our people continue to plant. We will nourish it, water it, protect it, Put earth around the base to keep it from tipping, and eventually it will stand on its own producing fruits that will feed the mind, body, and soul. So sit back, relax, and enjoy her very first episode. Sewed. Welcome to Black Corn Remedy the podcast. I'm black corn, and this space is for the real ones. If you're here. Maybe you're curious, maybe you're healing. Maybe you just needed something real while you're driving folding laundry or sitting in parent pickup line. Either way, you're welcome here. I share stories, lessons and perspective from a real life Pueblo woman full of learning, growing, and a whole lot of becoming. It's a little funny. A little deep and sometimes PG 13, but it's always honest. So stay a while, let's talk, laugh, reflect, meet new people, and maybe see new things a little differently by the time you leave. You're listening to Black Corn Remedy the podcast. Let's get into it. All right, this is probably take three. I am coming to you from parent pickup line in Los Lunas, New Mexico. And let me tell you, being here early makes the difference. Now getting there an hour early is, definitely something you wanna aim for, but of course everybody's working. You got other stuff going on. But honestly, being the first 10 cars in para pickup line is a huge game changer because once you can get out before the buses, you can get home so much easier. And I'm not only staying in that for probably my aleta Pueblo peeps parents who. Are crazy enough like me to come pick up your kid, but anyways. Hi, Brandy here. you might know me as Uni or Brandy Lee, or Brandy, someone you went to school with, or, Brandy that took your man. Just kidding. Ew. let's not live that. Anyways, I wanted to get on here because. I just had this hankering or this want to do a podcast not only because I find myself interesting, but I don't wanna feel alone in these feelings, these situations, these problems, these solutions, these, I don't wanna feel alone. And if my story or just hearing my podcast brings you. Some type of joy throughout your day, throughout your lifetime, wherever you find this in time, I hope it's something that, brings you joy. Either a laugh, a thought, an idea, or maybe the encouragement. so why did I start a podcast? Or what gave me the idea? Well, to be honest, what gave me the idea was I'm already so good at talking to myself or talking with myself, being that crazy person. Uh, there are some days where I feel like I can have the best conversation with myself, and it sounds so silly because I'm by myself a lot. Maybe not so alone, like at home.'cause I have. Two of my boys at home, my husband and son, I should say that. Not my boys. Okay. I don't live with a whole bunch of boys, but, um, where was I? that's just my mom brain. Again, I'm looking out here, I'm trying to relax in this hot sun in the car.'cause I'm here an hour early to pick up my little boy. I've only been on one podcast. it was Life of a Dog on the Res, hosted by Mike Garcia Yasha. Shout out to you. If you haven't heard of their podcast, I say you also throw them in the mix too after you listen to mine, listen to theirs, or take turns. Listen to life of Res Dog first, and then listen to mine, however you wanna mix and match it. Or add in your other favorite indigenous podcasters. But I wanted to create a podcast after I did my first podcast, in regards to talking about opening my massage business. I felt that was a very good story to share because I made a pivotal move in my career. After becoming a mom, after getting my degree, before my thirties, I had a pivotal moment in my life where I really had to decide is this worth it? I was really happy to be asked on that podcast, relive some of those moments that got me to where I was got me to where I am right now. And. there's more. There is so much more. I bet my podcasts would've been very long if I wasn't crunched for time that day. But if you want to know more about me, this is the podcast for you. Okay. You wanted to keep up with me after my episode on Life of Res Dog. this is it. But yeah, I just felt that I had a really good story also it made me think of other moments in my life that were pivotal. Other problems or situations I ran into along the way that aren't really happy or good, but how those moments I felt stuck and I was able to find a solution, or I found my way out somehow. And that's not just with. life problems. there's physical problems, there's mental problems, emotional problems. I just, wanna make sure that you feel heard, but also you're validated because you might be feeling the same way I felt You might be in the same spot, I really wanna just lay it out there. This is me. originally this podcast was supposed to help me speak IE or Tiwa, but right now I'm a little bit nervous to record that because there have just been not good things coming out of that. I still like to record, but it's not something I'm willing to share. I use them for my learning purposes. I've recorded some of my family members and I love listening to them. I love listening to them but I don't feel that it would be well received if I shared that with people outside of my family or the friends I trusted if you have the means to, and your family's up for it, like do it because you are totally archiving their voices where your grandchildren will be able to hear them. Your great-grandchildren will be able to hear them, and you have'em at your fingertips because, the, access to some of the audio clips that we have from back in the day are kept at, the culture center in Esleta and some people don't even know about those either. I didn't know about them until a relative of mine that worked there told me that, oh, they have, so and so's voice recorded, like you should go ask for it. But that was something that I didn't really know of, but Okay. It could definitely be,'cause I'm in my own world and when it comes up of importance to me, I'll look for it. I'm rambling. you'll notice that I do that a lot. I would've called my podcast Black Corn Rambles. kind of rolls off the tongue. But I think there's more to this. There's more to this podcast that you'll learn from. Maybe it's that encouragement you need. All right. That's a wrap on Black Corn. Remedy the podcast if you're still here. I like you already. Whether you know me, heard about me, or just stumbled in stay. There's more where this came from. Real life, real lessons, a little humor, and maybe something that hits you right when you need it. Fair warning, this space gets a little PG 13, so it might be a little bit spicy sometimes, but it's honest and it's me black corn signing off. See you next time.
